Jada Pinkett Smith is beyond excited for husband Will Smith's latest casting.
At the D23 fan expo in Anaheim, California, over the weekend, Walt Disney Studios confirmed the actor will be playing the beloved Genie in their live- action remake of Aladdin. And when Jada was a guest on Tuesday's episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she explained exactly why her man is perfect for the role.
"He's playing a big 'ol Genie," she excitedly exclaimed to the audience. "He's playing the Genie!"
Recalling a conversation she had with Will when he first found out he would be a part of the project, she said, "And you know what I had to tell him? I said, 'You know, this is perfect for you because you’re always creating magic.'"
"Yeah, I had to tell him that," the proud wife added.
Joining Will in the Guy Ritchie-directed film are Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Jasmine.
As for Jada, she's currently starring in Girls Trip, out Friday. When ET caught up with her co-star, Kofi Siriboe, on the red carpet for the film's premiere, he joked he has yet to come face-to-face with Will since filming a romantic scene with Jada.
"No, I ain't meet Will Smith," he said. "No, no, no. We didn't meet while we were filming. I just thought that would be mad awkward. I didn’t have anything to do with it."
