Jessica Simpson: I Was Blessed to Have 'Newlyweds'

Jessica Simpson reflects on her MTV show Newlyweds and dishes on the new music she's working on.

ET correspondent Lance Bass caught up with Jessica Simpson at Forbes' Women's Summit: Power Redefined event in New York City Thursday, May 15, where the successful businesswoman/singer dished on everything from her reality TV past to new music and her upcoming wedding!

Though Jessica, 33, now says she would "absolutely not ever do" another reality TV series like her MTV hit Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, she does admit she was blessed to have the reality show that turned her into a household name.

Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, which focused on the marriage between her and her then-husband Nick Lachey, first aired in August 2003 and lasted three seasons. Nick and Jessica divorced in 2006.

"I am blessed that I did have that show," Jessica admitted, despite the couple’s less-than-happy ending. "It allowed people to come into my life, and to know me as a person, and I owe a lot of my support -- my fans came from that because people could relate to me."

But looking to her future, Jessica revealed that she is in fact working on new music at home in her studio, which will of course be inspired by her two kids with fiancé Eric Johnson -- Maxwell Drew, 2, and Ace Knute, who turns 1 in June.

"They inspire me," she said. "They'll bring the music out of me.”

Though surprisingly, her kids aren't too fond of her singing lullabies.

"I think my voice is too loud to sing a nursery rhyme," she admitted. "My kids kind of look at me like, ‘Ugh!’ Like, I startle them or something."

The theme of this Thursday's Forbes summit was "The Entrepreneurship of Everything," and celebrated fellow female entrepreneurs like designer Diane von Furstenberg, and actresses Goldie Hawn and Felicity Huffman.
