Oprah Winfrey to Be Honored With Cecil B. DeMille Award at 2018 Golden Globes

Oprah Winfrey will be honored at the 75th Golden Globe Awards!

The 63-year-old multifaceted media mogul will receive the 2018 Cecil B. DeMille Award during the annual ceremony held on Sunday, Jan. 7.

The news was announced on Wednesday by 2012 Cecil B. DeMille Award recipient Morgan Freeman during the airing of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Golden Globe 75th Anniversary Special on NBC.

"Let me be first to congratulate you," Freeman expressed in the clip. "Because you're in for an incredible night."

Upon sharing the announcement, Winfrey tweeted, "What an honor."

The Cecil B. DeMille Award is chosen by the HFPA and given to an individual who has made an incredible impact on the world of entertainment. Past honorees include Audrey Hepburn, Barbra Streisand, Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Harrison Ford, Jodie Foster and Lucille Ball, among many others.

The 2018 Golden Globe nominations were revealed earlier this week, with Big Little Lies leading in the TV categories with six nominations and Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water earing seven noms on the film side.

The 75th annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Seth Meyers, will be handed out live on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 starting at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
