The seventh and final season of the Netflix series premieres July 26.
Initially following Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), who was sentenced to spend time in a minimum-security women’s prison, the series quickly blossomed into an ensemble comedy that followed the many lives of women behind bars as they navigated eccentric characters and trying times while coming to terms with the choices that led them there. Season six saw many of the prisoners forced into maximum security following a prison-wide riot over the unjust death of one of their own.
In its final season, the remaining women are forced to come to terms with the fact that prison has changed them forever. Piper, having completed her sentence, struggles with life on the outside. Meanwhile, things in maximum security continues on without her as Taystee (Danielle Brooks) and Cindy’s (Adrienne C. Moore) friendship hangs in the balance of a looming life sentence, Gloria (Selenis Leyva) and her kitchen staff are confronted by the prison’s newest profit stream and others chase drugs, dreams and unrealized potential.
In a teaser announcing the show’s return on July 26, our favorite leading ladies – Dascha Polanco, Diane Guerrero, Jackie Cruz, Kate Mulgrew, Laura Prepon, Natasha Lyonne, Uzo Aduba, Brooks, Moore and Schilling – cover the series’ theme song, “You've Got Time” by Regina Spektor. In addition to the brief behind-the-scenes video, the show released several new images, giving audiences a first look at the closing chapter.
