"I can confirm on record that Al B Sure was in a coma for the past two months, and he is now making strides towards recovery," Al's rep shared.

Al's son, Albert Brown IV, was the first to share the news, posting a tribute to his father on Instagram after thanking his followers for wishing him a happy birthday on Sunday.

The R&B singer took to Twitter just one day later, updating fans on his current condition and thanking those who have been sending prayers his way.

"A very humble thank you for the prayers my @WBLS1075NYC family. I’m alive, awake, on the mend. Submissively grateful! #AllPraiseisDuetoAllah," he tweeted. "I’ll share more of my health experience soon in hopes to encourage us all to stay on top of our #HealthandWellness #GoSeetheDoctor ❤️ ABS!."

On Wednesday, Al shared a video to Instagram that was a montage showing him in the hospital, and the different emergency medical procedures he required while in a coma. He also opened up on what led up to the frightening situation.

"Here’s an abbreviated version of events," Al wrote. "In early to mid July I was in a meeting over lunch, wrapped up and proceeded back to the studio to continue working on my upcoming project. As I sat in front of the computer I began to lose feeling on the entire left side of my body and fell over to the side. Fortunately my phone was within reach and I was able to call for assistance."

"I only remember sitting in the ER in a wheelchair and my brother @DJEddieF standing next to me speaking with a security guard," he continued. "It was October when I was made fully aware of what had transpired and able to start to comprehend it all."

He explained that he required an organ transplant, blood transfusions, extensive surgeries, he suffered from sepsis, was intubated and had to have lymph nodes removed, among other painful and life-threatening procedures.

"I’m now the proud owner of the #Chevron scar as seen in this clip where the Dr. entered my chest / abdominal cavity to repair my internal broken parts," he continued. "That’s the best description I can give without going into unsavory morbid sounding details."

Al said that, because he was "heavily sedated, asleep and in a coma during a portion of my hospitalization" he didn't learn until he started to recover that the doctors treating him "were fully prepared to send me to hospice due to the severity of my overall illnesses. Doctor's said it just didn't look as if I’d make it through with all going on simultaneously."

However, his friends and family staunchly stood by him and stressed they were "confident" that he was "strong enough to survive this medical adversity!"

"Thank God I'm alive, alert, gradually healing and forever grateful for my time being extended here on God’s green earth," Al continued in a third post. I’m maintaining a positive mindset throughout this healing process. To be completely transparent, everything I've gone through self perpetuated or otherwise has shaken me to the core but my faith and believe in #TheMostHigh has put me in check for a greater life plan moving forward with what Our Creator has in store."

"It has been ordained that I thrive within this second chance gift of life. Being accountable to myself to achieve consistent Health and Wellness moving forward is on ME! The responsibility, will to stay alive, be a better human being, father, brother, son, social activist and man is on ME!" he continued. "What I seek to conquer and accomplish in the future will be monumental, God willing."

Al gave his followers a look at his health on Instagram this summer, sharing several shots from inside a hospital, the most recent of which was posted in August.

"Grand Rising 🌞 #AlBeez 🐝 around the 🌍 I’d 1st like to say a very humble thank you for the prayers, positive thoughts and well wishes as I go through this medical journey. Waking up daily to monitors, wires and machines keeping you stable is a new experience," Al wrote at the time.

"I have a very humbling, newfound respect for the #Nurse’s #RN’s & #Doctor’s that are on the #frontline and there around the clock making certain that all is well," he continued.
