Savannah Guthrie powered through the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Today co-anchor revealed on Wednesday's episode of the show that she had suffered a serious eye injury, however, she wasn't going to let it stop her from her co-hosting duties on Thursday. Guthrie kicked off coverage of the annual New York City parade with her Today co-host, Hoda Kotb -- but seemed more worried about the parade's balloons being able to fly due to the weather than her eye recovery.

"It is gonna be a game time call whether the balloons can fly, whether they can fly at full height," Guthrie said on the broadcast, about an hour before the parade officially began.

"The other game time call was whether or not you were gonna be here, and I have to say, 10 people have walked up to you and said, ‘How's the eye? How's the eye? How's the eye?'" Kotb noted.

"The eye is fine, fine enough to be here!" Guthrie insisted. "I didn’t want to miss this parade for anything, so I'm super happy to be here."

On Wednesday's episode of Today, Guthrie called in to explain how she suffered the injury, revealing that her 2-year-old son, Charley, threw a toy train at her eye. It ended up tearing her retina.

"It has a really pointed edge and he threw it right at me," she said. "... It happened last week, actually, and then I lost my vision in my right eye about 24 hours later, and then it turned out to be kind of serious. They were afraid my retina was detached."

Guthrie said she has undergone a few laser procedures trying to avoid a full surgery.

"I really did lose my vision in my right eye,” she shared. " It was so blurry from -- not to get too gross -- but there was so much blood inside the eye that it completely blocked my vision."

Luckily, Guthrie appears to be recovering. See more on the mom of two in the video below.
