Paula Abdul is set to rejoin her "American Idol" comrade Simon Cowell by judging on Fox's new singing competition show, "The X Factor," ET has learned.

Simon Cowell released a statement on the news, saying, "This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can't believe I am saying this, [but] I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she's on the show."

Paula shared similar sentiments, gushing, "I'm looking forward to being back with the FOX/FremantleMedia family and know that it will be an extraordinary journey -- we're going to have a blast. I'm also delighted and grateful to be sitting next to Simon again...but you might want to check back with me in a week or two!"

The Associated Press disclosed that Paula wrapped up her negotiations with the network on Saturday just in time for the show's first taping today.

Steve Jones, Nicole Scherzinger, "L.A." Reid and Cheryl Cole also will reportedly take up seats at the judging panel when "The X Factor" makes its debut in September.
