Tatum O'Neal and Ryan O'Neal's Emotional Reality Show Reunion

By

Tatum O'Neal
has had her highs (being the youngest Oscar winner for her role in Paper Moon) and lows (her drug and alcohol addiction), but the actress will now confront one of her most difficult challenges: making amends with her father Ryan O'Neal.

Having gone through their public and personal struggles for 25 years, Tatum talked to our Mark Steines about how her docu-series "Ryan & Tatum: The O'Neals" is nothing like other reality shows and how it can help others going through similar situations.

"I thought, 'great for me,' how perfect," Tatum explained. "If I can do anything to make my life an example to help somebody else, that's [just been] what has happened to me after I turned 30."

Tatum's relationship with Ryan deteriorated when he left her mother and went on to dating other actresses, includingFarrah Fawcett, which is just one of the many topics in her book, Found: A Daughter's Journey Home. While progress is being made in mending her status with her father, Mark asked Tatum if there's a "finish line" of sorts, in which Tatum retorted with a profound statement.

"Is there in life? Is there with families?," she asked in response. "We'll see. It's a process."

Listen to Tatum reveal more about her relationship with Ryan and be sure to catch "Ryan & Tatum: The O'Neals" when it premieres Sunday, June 19, only on OWN.
