WATCH: Gene Simmons Proposes to Longtime Partner Shannon Tweed

In yet another reality show cliffhanger, Gene Simmons proposed to longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed on last night's finale of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels." But Shannon's response won't be seen until next season and the relationship has reportedly been on the rocks since the fairy tale proposal was shot several months ago.

The KISS frontman chose a romantic setting on a beach in Belize as the setting for his dramatic proposal. "I come with so much baggage, but you're the only one I've ever loved. You're the only one I love and you're the only one I ever will love." Then, after getting down on one knee, Simmons pops the question: "Shannon, please marry me."

A source confirms to People.com that the proposal episode was taped "several months ago" and it's no secret that the two have recently had major relationship issues. Tweed told People in a recent interview that she had moved out of the couple's home and predicted a "slim chance" of the two getting back together. "You're seeing this happy family, but in my heart, I am dying," she told the magazine.

On Wednesday, Simmons took to Twitter to comment on the relationship: "Shannon and I work on our relationship every day. One day at a time. Thanks for watching. When we figure out our lives, you will know." Tweed also tweeted on the episode and where things stand: "Thank you for watching and supporting me. It means the world. We are taking it day by day. Stay tuned."
