Fall TV's Winners and Losers... So Far

The new TV season is barely three weeks old and already there have been casualties.

The Playboy Club was the first to be canceled when NBC pulled the plug after just three airings. Of the show that jumped on the 1960s period bandwagon, Hugh Hefner tweeted, "I'm sorry NBC's The Playboy Club didn't find its audience. It should have been on cable, aimed at a more adult audience." Hank Azaria's Free Agents also got the bad news today that it will be going off the air, to be replaced by episodes of Whitney -- one of the new season's big winners, having been picked up for the rest of the season.

In fact, female-driven shows have triumphed across the board as FOX's The New Girl (with Zooey Deschanel), CBS's 2 Broke Girls (with Kat Dennings) and NBC's Up All Night (with Christina Applegate and Maya Rudolph) have all been granted full seasons!
