Jim Carrey's Daughter Jane Auditions for 'Idol'

Hollywood offspring Jane Carrey auditioned for American Idol in San Diego, which aired in a special broadcast on Sunday night.

The Los Angeles based mom and waitress is the 24-year-old daughter of comedic actor Jim Carrey. Upon learning of her lineage, Jennifer Lopez reminisced about meeting Jane as a toddler on the set of In Living Color, where J.Lo was a Fly Girl. Jenny from the block couldn't believe that Jane is now a grown woman.

With her infectious smile beaming, Jane sang Bonnie Raitt's Something to Talk About. The aspiring singer earned constructive criticism from the panel. Jennifer said she has a "pretty voice," but needs to "connect with your audience" through eye contact. Randy Jackson heard "potential" in her pipes and Steven Tyler noted, "You've got good melody, but you've got to work on the volume."

Jim was not physically at the auditions, but made his presence known in spirit. After all three judges unanimously agreed to send Jane through to the next round of competition, she called her famous father to spread her good news. Host Ryan Seacrest interviewed the star on speaker phone. "Yay!!! She's so wonderful," an elated Jim said. I can't wait for the world to understand what she has inside her... Way to go... This is going to be an exciting year."
