Van Pelt was eventually called out for elimination, leaving the 26-year-old to sing I Believe in You and Me by Whitney Houston for a chance at redemption, but the judges ultimately declined to use their save on the Rhode Island-native.

On a lighter note, Steven Tyler's Aerosmith bandmate Joe Perry took to the stage for a surprise rendition of Happy Birthday in honor of Tyler's 64th next Monday. Steven's daughter Liv and grandson Milo could be seen in the audience cheering on the Idol judge.
