Steven, Randy and Idols Remember Donna Summer

The final two contenders for the American Idol crown were named Thursday night -- Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips -- and both Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson's key advice for the finalists was to simply pick great songs and then knock 'em out of the park. They also had kind words to say about the passing of disco legend Donna Summer.

"She was the point man of that era, and we're going to miss her so, so much," said Steven, while Randy added, "She is the lone queen of dance music … so everyone should pay homage to that. Just a true pioneer."

Former Idol Adam Lambert told ET, "Donna Summer defined a whole genre of music … she'll definitely be missed." While Rita Wilson proclaimed, "Donna Summer was really like a voice of a generation …I wish she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

For the Idol finalists Jessica and Phillip, Steven and Randy had some choice words.

"[Phillip] and Jessica have to pick nothing but sheer moments," said Randy. "They need the best songs they've ever had, and perform and sing the I-don't-know-what out of them."

Tune in next week to see Jessica and Phillip compete for Idol glory, next Tuesday and Wednesday on FOX.
