He became a huge TV star by appearing on hits including Family Ties and Spin City, and is now set to make a return to regular series TV this fall! Here are five things you may not know about Michael J. Fox.

1. His middle name is actually Andrew, but the initial J. was added to his professional name in honor of character actor Michael J. Pollard.

2. Made his small screen debut in 1976 in the CBS series Letters from Frank when he was 15. At the time, he was portraying a 10-year-old.

3. Was not the first choice to play Marty McFly in the blockbuster Back to the Future franchise. He took over the role when Eric Stoltz was let go shortly after filming began.

4. Was the first guest Jon Stewart ever had on The Daily Show on January 11, 1999.
