Anne Heche Chokes, Becomes Prophet in 'Save Me'

With The Office and 30 Rock ending, and most of NBC's younger comedies freshly axed, the Peacock Network is in dire need of a big comedy hit. In search of that success, NBC is turning to God.

Anne Heche stars as Beth Harper in Save Me, a new NBC comedy where a near-death experience choking on a sandwich compels Beth to turn around her struggling relationships with her daughter and cheating husband.

Also, God talks to her now. That, or she's gone crazy. Maybe both.

Either way, her new-found direct line to The Almighty has her keyed in on intimate details of her family's personal life, which appears to leave them terrified and/or confused.

But with the daughter's emancipation request denied, and the husband's mistress coma-stricken by lightning, the two are stuck, at least for now, with a minor deity in the household.

Is this the smash hit NBC needs, or more like the... Smash that the network is used to?

God only knows. Well, God and Anne Heche.

Save Me
premieres tonight at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
