Matt Damon to Cameo in 'Sharknado 2'?

Today’s forecast: cloudy with a chance of… sharks!

Syfy's viral original TV movie, Sharknado, continues to set ratings records and take social media by storm since debuting on July 11.  But this time around, for one night only, it took a bite out of the big screen at more than 200 Regal Cinemas across the U.S. and ETonline was at the sold out premiere!  Watch the video above.

It seems nobody’s safe in or out of the water anymore as Sharknadojoins Syfy’s growing list of ridiculous shark-themed titles like Sharktopus, Swamp Shark, Two-Headed Shark Attack, and coming soon, Ghost Shark.

American Pie actress Tara Reid recalled her initial reaction to the Sharknado script:  "That night I went out to dinner with a bunch of my friends and I was telling them about it and we were laughing, my friends said you HAVE to do this movie! It’s classic, it’s so ridiculous!  I did, and I never thought that this would be happening, but it did and it worked."

"I really don’t know what to make of this, it’s an anomaly," said Beverly Hills, 90210 star Ian Ziering, when asked about being a part of yet another pop-culture phenomenon.  "90210 was such an amazing experience, it was a global phenomenon as well that took a couple of years to realize the impact that show had. This (Sharknado) has happened overnight, this has reached global proportions before it even aired on TV the first time, and it continues to grow."

When asked about the highly anticipated Sharknadosequel, set in
New York City, Ian had some predictions about possible celebrity
cameos:  "I think there’s going to be a lot of cameo deaths. There are a
lot of people who’ve expressed interest in Sharknado, I heard
Matt Damon talking about wanting to be in it, let me tell you something
right now Matt if you’re coming for my job, I will cut you, step off,"
Ian said jokingly.

Speculation still surrounds the second movie, but expect to see the Sharknado sequel some time in 2014.

You can catch the final television broadcast of Sharknado on Thursday, August 22 at 7pm, followed by the premiere of Ghost Shark at 9 pm only on Syfy.
