'Breaking Bad' Spin-Off Officially in Development

Although Breaking Bad fans are mourning the imminent conclusion of the hit crime drama series, AMC is set to preserve part of the show with an upcoming spin-off.

According to Deadline, AMC and Sony Pictures Television have reached a licensing agreement for a spin-off that will follow the acclaimed series' "Saul Goodman," who is portrayed by comedic actor Bob Odenkirk.

The series, which is currently in the development stage, is slated to be named Better Call Saul, a reference to Saul's first appearance on the show in which "Walt" (Bryan Cranston) and "Jesse" (Aaron Paul) hired him.

On par with Saul's comically flamboyant and sleazy personality, Deadline reports that the spin-off will feature less grave moments and will have a more comedic undercurrent to it.
