'Survivor' Winner Drunk at 'Dr. Phil' Intervention

The winner of Survivor: China, Todd Herzog, is going public with his battle with alcoholism and during a disturbing episode next week on Dr. Phil, the talk show host declares the reality star "closer to death" than any previous guest he's ever had.

Herzog was 22 in 2007 when he won the top prize of $1 million on the hit CBS show, telling ET at the time, "This is my dream come true, I can't believe I did it. I've wanted this since I was 15."

But during his appearance scheduled to air on Monday's Dr. Phil, Herzog has to be assisted on both sides while walking onto the stage and confesses he was drunk after downing an entire bottle of vodka before the taping. "I'm sorry I'm crying," Herzog tells Dr. Phil and the audience. "I just can't believe this is happening."

Herzog -- who contacted Dr. Phil producers seeking help -- revealed she often fears for her son's death after he was hospitalized twice for alcohol poisoning. "Do you know what it's going do to your mother if she has to bury her boy?" Dr. Phil asks. "Do you care about her?" Herzog tearfully replies, "Of course I do."
