'Law & Order' Vet Dann Florek To Depart 'SVU'
After 401 episodes, veteran Law & Order cast member Dann Florek, who played Captain Donald Cragen, is leaving the show.
Law & Order: SVU showrunner Warren Leight tweeted photos from the set of the show featuring the cast celebrating Florek, which also read:

— Warren Leight (@warrenleightTV) December 10, 2013Florek has been with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit since it began 15 years ago, and was on Law & Order for three years before that.
His departure from the show comes weeks after series stalwart Richard Belzer retired from the program. According to Leight, neither Florek nor Belzer left the show due to a feud or any disharmony, but because the show is trying to remain authentic and realistic.
The episode featuring Florek's depature has just been shot, and will air sometime in the new season of Law & Order: SVU, which begins January 8 at 9/8c on NBC.
