Everyone gets their start in Hollywood differently. These select few started in reality TV before becoming actresses!

While some stars get their start in showbiz by becoming an actor or actress and then travel into the world of reality TV, these select few did just the opposite!

Here’s a breakdown of a few actresses who got their starts on the reality small screen.

Before Emma Stone was being whisked away by Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, she was singing with the best of them on the competitive reality show In Search of the New Partridge Family in 2004. At the time she was going by the name Emily Stone and auditioning to play the role of Laurie Partridge in the television movie, The New Partridge Family. Three years after scoring that role, Emma found herself starring in Superbad, and the rest is history!

We first met Julianne Hough as an energetic pro on Dancing With The Stars. During her five seasons on the series, she managed to take home two mirror ball trophies with Olympian Apolo Anton Ohno and race car driver Helio Castroneves, along with the hearts of many Americans. Her spunky attitude not only got her a slew of fans, but helped her book roles in Footloose, Rock of Ages, and a part alongside Josh Duhamel in the film adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel, Safe Haven.

American Idol has helped launch the singing careers of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Phillip Phillips. It’s also been the launching pad for Katharine McPhee and Jennifer Hudson’s acting careers. ET was with Jennifer Hudson just after she took home the Academy Award in 2007 for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Dream Girls. "I was like, ‘Wow. Well this win means an early morning and a lot of more work,’” she told ET seven years ago. Turns out she was right! The Oscar winner went on to star in the Sex and the City  movie in 2008 and Winnie Mandela in 2011. But it all came full circle when she got to co-star along fellow American Idol alum Katharine McPhee in the second season of Smash.
