The beloved PBS program is the longest-running children's show in history and has won a staggering 159 Emmy Awards. Seeing as this educational show reaches 156 million kids worldwide in 150 countries, it's no wonder that the stars have been eager to show up on Sesame Street.

However, it took a whole decade on the air before a celebrity came to the neighborhood. In 1979, James Earl Jones was the first star to appear on the kids program. Since then, Neil Patrick Harris, Destiny's Child, Cameron Diaz and Janelle Monae have made cameos (to name a few). In season 45 alone, First Lady Michelle Obama and boy band One Direction visit Sesame Street.
