Fear the Walking Dead premieres in less than two weeks, but ET has behind-the-scenes footage of the highly-anticipated Walking Dead prequel series!

Set in Los Angeles, The Walking Dead companion show takes place during Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) coma, just as the outbreak begins. The series follows divorced teacher Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis), his guidance counselor fiancee Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and her two children -- Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Nick (Frank Dillane) -- in the opening stages of the zombie apocalypse.

"This very normal family is faced with this out-of-control fall of civilization," Dickens told ET.

Viewers will recognize Dickens as the detective who busts Ben Affleck in Gone Girl.

"They should not worry that it's in any way a dilution of The Walking Dead," Dickens said. "It's just an enhanced picture of what's happening somewhere else. Everyone's deepest fears come to life."

Fear the Walking Dead premieres Aug. 23 on AMC.
