The CW

We might need to think about re-naming our favorite CW series...

Could Jane the Virgin be losing her virginity?!

Fans have fallen in love with star Gina Rodriguez on the smash CW series, and now it might be time for Jane to fall head over heels -- and possibly into bed! -- with someone new.

ETonline recently called up Jane the Virgin guest star Adam Rodriguez, who plays Jane's hunky grad school teacher, to get the inside scoop on tonight's blush-inducing episode and if Jonathan has what it takes to be her special someone.

You're the latest handsome man to be vying for Jane Villaneuva's attention on Jane the Virgin. What is it about star Gina Rodriguez that causes her to have undeniable chemistry with every guy on the show?

Adam Rodriguez:
Because she's just the coolest chick on television! She's just so genuine. I really feel like this year, from knowing a lot of people in the business, I got to spend a lot of quality time with two of the coolest actresses that I know. [Empire's] Taraji [P. Henson] and Gina are both cute from the same cloth. They're both just super down to Earth, and super talented, and, on top of that, beautiful. It was just my pleasure to get to spend time with both of them.

So, at this point in the series, are you Team Michael, Team Rafael or Team Jonathan?

AR:
You know, I've got to root for myself. I want Jane! And I would love to have the honor of being the guy who gets to cross out "The Virgin" in "Jane the Virgin." [Laughs]

Do you think your character has what it takes to be that special someone?

AR:
I'd like to believe he has what it takes, but what he doesn't have is the pen that [creator] Jennie Snyder-Urman wields, so I don’t know if he'll be the guy or not. We'll have to keep tuning in to see, but I'd love to get a script that says I'd be the guy who gets to do that.

In tonight's episode we know that Jane is trying to read the signs that Jonathan is putting out there, but she ends up having a completely embarrassing situation. What can you tease about that moment for the fans?

AR:
As Jane does so well and, yet, somehow every time she has an embarrassing moment, you love her so much more and more. I think you can tease the fact that Jane is starting to get more in touch with herself in more ways than one.

Jane's embarrassing moment is endearing, yet so mortifying. Have you ever had an embarrassing thing happen to you on a date?

AR:
Oh my god, yeah! More than one. Enough that trying to go back in my mind and remember something is actually tough. Of course I've had an embarrassing moment, but now that I'm put on the spot, I can't think of one. I will say that those embarrassing moments tended to happen in my earlier dating years. As I got older, I sort of realized that people are people and once you've had enough of those moments you kind of realize that life goes on and most times it's not to end of the relationship. I actually think embarrassing moments are great because you can get that awkward thing out of the way right away.

Okay so what would your reaction be if, like Jane, a girl were to misread the moment and accidentally kissed your sweater?

AR:
[Laughs] Oh my god! Honestly, knowing myself I would feel so bad for her that I would probably, in all the awkwardness, I would probably give her an awkward hug and tell her that it's okay. I'd give her a pat on the back and send her home and try and take the sting off of it as best I could without actually laughing.

Jane the Virgin airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
