Spencer Reid’s dire circumstance is having a dramatic effect on the BAU.

On Wednesday’s episode of Criminal Minds, titled “Alpha Male,” the team struggles to adapt to their new reality after Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), who allegedly murdered a doctor in Mexico, opted not to take a plea deal, and only ET has the exclusive first look.

In the sneak peek, J.J. Jareau (A.J. Cook), Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler), Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) and Stephen Walker (Damon Gupton) try to make sense of Reid’s options after he is alsodenied bail. At the moment, things aren’t looking so great. Then Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) proposes a thoughtful way to make sure their pal is taken care of behind bars.

“We’re going to send him letters every day. We’re going to put money in his commissary account. We are going to send him puzzles, magazines, books, whatever we can think of to make sure those gorgeous gears inside that boy wonder brain are lubed up and in perfect working order to keep us on track,” she said.

“I took the liberty of making a chart,” Garcia proudly announces, holding up a pink homemade board for “Reid’s Contact Schedule” scrawled in her flowery handwriting, revealing that she also set up a visitation schedule.

“Why do you get to visit Reid first?” Alvez asks, after he takes a closer look at the board.

“Because I made the chart, and if anyone has any problem with that, tough noogies!” Garcia retorts, before advising everyone to get in those “upbeat, articulate missives” so she can send them to Reid that afternoon. But things are about to get far more serious for Reid -- watch the exclusive video above to see why.
