The drama on Younger is about to reach another level!

TV Land's sexy half-hour comedy kicks off its fourth season in one week, and there may be something more than friendship blossoming between Liza's 20-something ex-boyfriend, Josh (Nico Tortorella), and her Millennial colleague, Kelsey (Hilary Duff).

"We pick up right where season three left off and Josh is miserable. Liza has just told Kelsey that she is actually 40-something," Tortorella told ET's Katie Krause during a recent sit-down in the Burbank studios, referencing the cliffhanger in the season three finale.

"I think it's only natural that Josh and Kelsey find each other at this point," he said. "They both have been betrayed by a woman that they love and so they find peace in each other. It's a Darren Star show, so we'll see what happens."

When asked if things turn romantic between Josh and Kelsey, who are closer in age than Josh is with Liza, Tortorella played coy.

"Hilary Duff? Yeah, let's make it happen!" the 28-year-old actor said with a laugh. "I think it's problematic if Josh and Kelsey are hooking up. This show is about female relationships more than it's about anything else, and that would be a really terrible thing for Kelsey to do to Liza. We'll see."

As for the Charles factor, Tortorella noted that a lot of tea is spilled this season and viewers will get a deeper glimpse into Josh's life when he's not around Kelsey or Liza.

"This season is dramatic," he promised. "There's some good stuff with Josh and Charles. There's a lot of good stuff with Josh and Kelsey. What I love about this season more than anything else is we get to see Josh outside of the other series regulars on the show. We get to see Josh's life in the bar. We get to see Josh's life in the tattoo shop, other relationships that he starts to build."

At the end of last season, Josh had plans to propose to Liza and even had rose petals spelled out on the bed. But his world was rocked when he caught her kissing her boss, Charles (Peter Hermann), outside her room.

"I think it's possible," Tortorella said, when asked about the possibility of an engagement being back on the table. "I think anything is possible in this utopian world that we live in on Younger, but if it's ever gonna happen? I don't know. I think it's all possible."

Younger is also packing its bags and jet-setting abroad in the new season. Though the context of the trip hasn't been revealed, it's clear the show is getting bigger and better. "We are leaving the United States at some point," Tortorella teased. "We are going to Europe!"

Asked what he'd want Josh to tackle, Tortorella had the best response.

"I want to see Josh tackle Charles, like, physically tackle him and beat him up," he joked, half serious. "I think it might [happen]."
