Carl may be doomed, but looks like the rest of The Walking Dead cast will survive another season!

The zombie drama has been renewed for a ninth season, AMC announced ahead of their presentation at Saturday's Television Critics Association press day. 

Additionally, current showrunner Scott Gimple is being promoted to Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead television universe, including TWD, Fear the Walking Dead, and possible other brand extensions on other platforms. Angela Kang, who has been a writer on TWD since 2011 and co-executive producer since 2013, will be promoted to executive producer and showrunner of TWD starting with season nine.

TWD returns Sunday, Feb. 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
