Zach Braff is coming back to TV.
The former Scrubs star returns to the small screen with the new ABC comedy, Alex, Inc., based on Alex Blumberg's StartUp podcast, and only ET has the exclusive first look at the charming new trailer for the midseason series.
In Alex, Inc., Braff -- who directed the series premiere -- plays Alex Schuman, a radio journalist, husband and father of two, who decides to quit his job and start his own tech company. Michael Imperioli, Hillary Anne Matthews, Elisha Henig and Audyssie James also star.
In the exclusive minute-long teaser that has a very endearing quality to it, Alex's unhappiness and boredom at his radio job become more and more apparent as time passes, until he passionately declares to his wife (The Good Place's Tiya Sircar) that he wants to "change the world." His desire to start over again kicks into high gear when he realizes that running his own company is a lot harder than he thought.
"We really set out to make a show that families could watch together," Braff told ET's Leanne Aguilera at winter Television Critics Association press tour while promoting Alex, Inc. "Scrubs, some people might recall, was risque. We were on at 9:30 p.m. Bill Lawrence was trying to push what we could do on TV. We were trying to go the other way [with Alex, Inc.] and try and fit in with what ABC -- in the spirit of Black-ish, Modern Family and The Middle -- something that parents could feel comfortable watching with their kids and isn't something like, earmuffs all the time."
Alex, Inc. premieres Wednesday, March 28 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
