Val Chmerkovskiy is bravely sharing the harrowing experience of a severe neck injury he endured last year. 

On Wednesday, the Dancing With the Stars pro took to Instagram and shared a series of photos and videos, where the 37-year-old reflected on the challenging period he faced during his recovery.

The post included striking images of Chmerkovskiy's X-rays, revealing the extent of his injury, as well as snapshots of him in a hospital bed wearing a neck brace and connected to medical equipment. Among the visuals, there was also a tender moment captured with his 13-month-old son, Rome, and scenes of affection from his loyal canine companions.

Accompanying the visuals was a reflective caption from Chmerkovskiy, where he disclosed, "This time last year I went through some stuff." While the dancer remained relatively silent about the incident at the time, he hinted at the severity of the situation in a March 2023 post, mentioning that he had "almost lost" his "ability to move."

In a further glimpse into his emotional journey, Chmerkovskiy shared sentiments from a previous post where he expressed gratitude for the support he received during his recovery. He acknowledged the highs and lows of the past year, from the joy of welcoming his son to the sorrow of losing his grandfather and navigating personal challenges.
