Kroy Biermann and Brielle's mother, Kim Zolciak, are in the middle of a messy on-off divorce.
Kroy Biermann played a key part in the recent engagement of his daughter, Brielle Biermann.
On Wednesday, the 27-year-old Don't Be Tardy star took to her Instagram Stories for a fan Q&A about her recent engagement to minor league baseball player Billy Seidl.
One fan asked if she was expecting the proposal, and Kim Zolciak's daughter insisted she was "not expecting the proposal at all."
"We're together 24/7, I was like, 'There's no way this guy's gonna be able to get a ring without me knowing. How's he gonna ask Kroy?'" Brielle mused. "Yes, he asked Kroy. He actually asked Kroy a while ago."
Brielle hinted that Kroy and Kim's on-off divorce drama factored into her decision to keep her relationship with Billy private until their engagement.
"All of my relationships have been really public and given, you know, everything that's going on right now, I just decided I wanted to be a little more private with things that were important to me," Brielle explained. "I get criticized on every single thing I do 24/7 and I didn't want any criticism on this. I didn't want anybody to affect what we had going on."
She shared that they originally met in the Bahamas more than a year ago. After a series of events they got together and have been living together prior to their engagement.
Billy made a shy cameo during the Q&A, driving the car and sharing that he actually picked out Brielle's engagement ring via email so as to keep her from getting suspicious.
Brielle announced her engagement earlier this week with the support of mom. Kim took to Instagram to share her own reaction to the news, writing, "I’m so happy for @briellebiermann @bseidl21 nothing makes me happier than seeing my kids happy! 💍It’s the best feeling EVER!! Love you both to the moon and back and look forward to alllll the years to come 🙏🏻❤️😍."
The engagement news comes as Kim's relationship with her husband, Kroy, remains in flux. The on-off couple have been going through a messy divorce, which has included explosive fights and disputes over finances and property. Brielle, who is the daughter of Kim and an unnamed ex, has been a longtime supporter of Kroy, who adopted her and sister Ariana in 2013, shortly after he married Kim.
Kim and Kroy also share kids KJ, 12, Kash, 11, and twins Kaia and Kane, 10.
