We’re sorry to break your heart all over again -- we know it's been a rough year.

Love is a beautiful thing -- until it’s suddenly not. While we stared at plenty of stunning engagement rings and cooed over whimsical wedding dresses, 2017 was also full of shocking breakups -- and a few that people kind of saw coming.

As if this year hasn’t been hard enough with, well, everything going on in the world, here are the 12 celeb splits that collectively broke our hearts.

1. Chris Pratt and Anna Faris

The breakup heard around the world! One of the most beloved and seemingly in-love duos in Hollywood, fans never saw the demise of the Jurassic World and Mom stars, and, honestly, we’re not sure we’ve recovered.

After eight years of marriage, Pratt and Faris announced they were legally separating in a joint statement shared via social media on Aug. 6. "We are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we're really disappointed," Faris shared in a message posted to Instagram, which was signed by both of them. "Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still love each other and will always cherish our time together."

As if that wasn’t sad enough, they kicked off the holiday season by officially filing for divorce on Nov. 30. Having remained friendly since their split, the two filed their divorce docs at the same time. Faris' response perfectly mirrors Pratt's, with both asking for joint custody of their 5-year-old son, Jack, and reserve the right to receive spousal support. The pair listed July 13 as their date of separation.

2. Fergie and Josh Duhamel

It’s a good thing we were already slightly numbed from Pratt and Faris, or we wouldn’t have been able to handle the news that Fergie and Duhamel had also called it quits after eight years of marriage.

The pair announced the news in a joint statement released to ET on Sept. 14, sharing, "With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year. To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family."

ET learned that they actually split in February, just one month after celebrating their eighth anniversary on a family vacation with their 4-year-old son, Axl Jack. Since the announcement, the “Love Is Blind” singer and Transformers: The Last Knight star have done nothing but publicly praise one another. "We're great friends, Josh and I, there's so much love that we have for each other," Fergie told ET while promoting her sophomore album, Double Dutchess, in September. "We really like each other, we have fun with each other. We're just not a romantic couple anymore. But we are still Axl's parents through and through, and our families -- each other's families, the cousins, my nieces and nephews -- it's all the same. So that's the only thing that's changed.”

3. Amy Schumer and Ben Hanisch

After years of mocking her dating life in her stand-up routines, it seemed as if Schumer had finally found her other half. But sadly, she and her furniture designer boyfriend swiped left on their relationship in May after nearly a year and a half together. "Amy and Ben have ended their relationship after thoughtful consideration and remain friends," Schumer's rep told ET in a statement. Just a few weeks before their split, the actress told Howard Stern that "it's good to have a lot of space." Schumer and Hanisch met on a dating app towards the end of 2015 and went public with their relationship in January 2016. While they were still together, the Snatched star told ET that Hanisch was totally different from the guys she had previously dated. "I usually would go for narcissists who, you know, could never be happy," she shared last year. "[Ben's] just very supportive and loving and I think we're very proud of each other." There doesn’t seem to be bad blood between the two, however. Schumer took to Instagram with her pup -- who was dressed up like a hot dog! -- in September to thank her ex for her new patio swing chair and table set. 4. Selena Gomez and The Weeknd

The heart wants what it wants, and in the case of these musical superstars, their hearts wanted different things -- after 10 months of dating, Gomez and The Weeknd were no more.

The pair was first linked in January, following The Weeknd's split with Bella Hadid. After being spotted getting cozy at Coachella in April, they made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala in May. The “Wolves” singer appeared to be getting serious with her new man, as they rented a temporary house together in New York in September, but they went kaput just weeks later.

Following their split, Gomez was spotted spending time with her ex, Justin Bieber, and the pair was rumored to have rekindled their romance in November. Nonetheless, when asked about the “best part” of being single by Billboard, Gomez admitted to still keeping in touch with the “Starboy” singer. "Something that I’m really proud of is that there’s such a true friendship [between me and The Weeknd]," she said. "I truly have never experienced anything like that in my life. We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other], and that was pretty remarkable for me."

5. Kylie Jenner and Tyga

After breaking up and getting back together so many times that we pretty much lost track, the makeup mogul and rapper were dunzo for good in April. Jenner and Tyga were thought to have begun dating in 2014, when she was only 17, but did not confirm their relationship until after her 18th birthday in August 2015.

While neither officially announced their split, the two were spotted partying separately at Coachella, where Jenner was first romantically linked to her now-boyfriend, rapper Travis Scott, after the pair was photographed holding hands and getting cozy at the music festival. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star appeared to have moved on not only quickly but quite successfully -- she and Scott are now expecting their first child together.

6. Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell

Another Bachelor couple bites the dust. A year and a half after Higgins proposed to Bushnell on the ABC reality show, the two went their separate ways. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce our decision to go our separate ways,” the two said in a joint statement to People in May. “We feel fortunate for the time we had together, and will remain friends with much love and respect for one another. We wish nothing but the best for each other, and ask for your support and understanding at this time.”

Two months later, Higgins took to Instagram to share an essay addressing the criticism he's received since splitting with Bushnell, declaring that he isn't perfect and that "the last few months have not gone the way I would have preferred."

As for Bushnell, she revealed to ET in August that she has “nothing negative to say about Ben.” “He's such a good person. There's nothing wrong with him at all. He did nothing wrong, I did nothing wrong,” she explained. “It's just more like… sometimes it doesn't work, and the pressure [of getting married] obviously is an added element. But I don't think that's necessarily what caused a breakup." She has also since moved on with Devin Antin, whom she met on Tinder.

7. Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna

As on-and-off as his little sister was with Tyga, Kardashian and Chyna’s relationship was even more unstable. First linked in January 2016, the two had a very tumultuous coupling that included an engagement, the birth of their now 1-year-old daughter, Dream, and numerous breakups before they officially ended things in early March. Unsurprisingly, this meant their E! reality series, Rob & Chyna, did not get picked up for a second season

Though a source initially told ET that the reality stars remained amicable for the sake of their daughter, “doing the best they can to stay civil and to co-parent," real-life drama wasn’t far behind. The former flames came to a head with a social media war in July -- Kardashian took to Twitter to accuse his ex of cheating and went so far as to post nude photos of her, which led to him getting kicked off the service. Days later, Chyna was granted a request for a temporary restraining order against Kardashian and later sued him and his family. Their ever-evolving legal battle is still ongoing.

8. Olivia Munn and Aaron Rodgers

They were one of our favorite goofy couples to live vicariously through on Instagram, but alas, the athletic duo split in April after three years of dating, a source close to the actress told ET. News of Munn and Rodgers' breakup came just weeks after they sparked engagement rumors when the X-Men: Apocalypse star was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her left hand in January.

The notoriously private Green Bay Packers quarterback addressed recent headlines about himself in an interview with ESPN in August, slamming critics who couldn’t separate his professional career from his personal life. "When you are living out a relationship in the public eye, it's definitely… it's difficult," he said. "It has some extra constraints because you have other opinions about your relationship, how it affects your work and, you know, just some inappropriate connections."

One month later, Munn poked fun at her defunct relationship. After taking heat for posting a selfie with her pal, Nick Swardson, who was wearing a hat of the Packers’ rivals, the Minnesota Vikings, she shared a Photoshopped version of the same pic, this time with Rodgers’ face on the cap. “I should've asked @nickswardson to wear his other favorite hat. (Note to all friends: Please remove all sports paraphernalia whilst we hang out.),” she wrote on Instagram.

9. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom

Perry and Orlando were hot and then cold, taking a break from their year-long romance in February, just two days after posing together at the annual Vanity Fair Oscar party. "Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time," reps for both stars told ET at the time.

During their costume-filled courtship, the pair dressed up as Santa and Mrs. Claus to visit a children’s hospital, attended Burning Man, celebrated each other's birthdays with memorable bashes and dressed up as Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump for Halloween. The fun didn’t end when their romantic relationship did, either. In April, Bloom told Elle U.K., “We’re friends, it’s good. We’re all grown up. She happens to be someone who is very visible, but I don’t think anybody cares about what I’m up to. Nor should they. It’s between us. It’s better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don’t have to be about hate.”

In fact, the two haven’t said “swish, swish” to each other at all. Rumor has it that they rekindled things in September, and there’s plenty of proof that they’ve been in the same space: They crossed paths at a mutual friend’s birthday party in April, were spotted getting pretty cozy at Ed Sheeran's Los Angeles concert in August and the Australian actor has even been seen with his ex’s cute pup.

10. Amber Heard and Elon Musk

Having moved on from a difficult divorce to Johnny Depp, Heard pumped the breaks on her next major relationship with far less drama. ET learned on Aug. 6 that the 31-year-old actress and the 46-year-old technology mogul had recently ended things after dating for nearly a year. Though they mostly kept their relationship private, Heard and Musk first held hands in public in April, while in Australia. Later that same evening, they each shared Instagram posts while dining out, with a lipstick kiss on Musk's cheek.

One day after Musk confirmed the split by commenting on one of the actress' Instagram photos, Heard took to the social media site herself. “Being in the public eye means having to explain yourself to so many people, so much of the time,” she captioned a series of photos of a pool bordered with the words "Give," 'Love," "Life" and "Joy" spelled out in roses. “In this case, I'd like to remain more quiet.”

Musk was more direct about the breakup in a November interview with Rolling Stone. "I was really in love, and it hurt bad… Well, she broke up with me more than I broke up with her, I think,” he admitted.

11. Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana

Three months after welcoming their first child, a son named Eissa, ET confirmed on April 9 that Jackson and her husband, Wissam Al Mana, were separating. The pop icon and the Qatari business magnate -- who is estimated to be worth $1 billion -- secretly tied the knot in 2012. Last spring, Jackson announced that she would be postponing her Unbreakable tour to focus her attention on starting a family.

In May, Jackson shared a very personal video with her fans, saying her son was “so healthy, so beautiful, so sweet, so loving, such a happy baby” before confirming her split from Al Mana. "I just want to keep it real with you guys for a second," she shared. "Yes, I separated from my husband. We are in court and the rest is in God's hands."

Last month, a source told ET that the “Rhythm Nation” singer was spending the holidays with her famous family for the first time in five years, and that while she is continuing to co-parent with her estranged husband, there's no hope for reconciliation between the two.

12. Luann de Lesseps and Tom D'Agostino

Just weeks after the Real Housewives of New York City star denied reports that her marriage was on the rocks, de Lesseps announced on Aug. 3 that she and D'Agostino were divorcing after seven months of marriage. "It's with great sadness that Tom and I agreed to divorce," the 52-year-old reality star tweeted. "We care for each other very much, hope you respect our privacy during this sad time!" Their divorce was finalized on Sept. 18.

A couple of weeks later, de Lesseps sat down with Andy Cohen for her first post-breakup on-camera interview, filmed at her Hamptons home for a special episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. She recalled the final nail in the relationship coffin, which she says occurred the weekend before taping RHONY's season nine reunion. At the time, she was still defending her marriage and seemingly trying to make it work with D’Agostino. “Tom went out and he called up an old girlfriend, and they went out with a group of people and I didn’t know about it,” she shared. “I found out about it the next day in the press. So for me, that was, like, the final straw. I can’t do this anymore.”
