Priscilla Presley Emotionally Reflects on the Death of Daughter Lisa Marie a Year Ago (Exclusive)

Lisa Marie died two days after she made her final public appearance at the 2023 Golden Globes.

In an emotional interview with ET's Kevin Frazier at the 75th Primetime Emmys on Sunday at L.A. Live's Peacock Theater, Priscilla Presley opened up about the tragic death of her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, last January.

Priscilla shared her thoughts on her granddaughter Riley Keough's performance in Daisy Jones & The Six, expressing pride in her acting talent. "Well, first of all, she's always been talented, that did not surprise me, but I thought she did an amazing job truly. Obviously, we all think that she's truly an actress; she's gonna hit it," Priscilla commented.

Reflecting on Riley's musical abilities, Priscilla acknowledged the emergence of the "music gene" during her performance. "I'm so proud of her. But you know, she's always been creative, even when she was younger," she said. "We all knew that she was probably heading for this kind of fame and popularity."

Priscilla also shared her experience watching the film Priscilla, which depicts her life. "It was like I was in that film. I was there, obviously, but I mean watching it, it brought back everything," she said.

Addressing the rumors surrounding her relationship with Riley, Priscilla stated, "Oh my gosh, the rumors that went out this past year have been unreal. Riley invited me tonight; she goes, 'You know what, let's get together and show the world we love each other, we care for each other, and we know we're there for each other.' But you know, this is what happens with the press, and that's what's so sad, that's truly sad."

The conversation took a somber turn as Priscilla opened up about her late daughter, Lisa Marie. "Listen, I think about her all day, all night. I miss my daughter very, very much, and it was a shock to all of us. But mostly for a mother, you know, who, when they lose their child, a lot is lost of them too. As a parent, we grieve; we can't believe it; we try to understand. You know, the thoughts of my daughter, I know she wasn't that happy. I know that when her son died, that was really when she just didn't want to be here."

The Daisy Jones & The Six star took to Instagram on Friday and posted a throwback photo of her as a child with her mom sitting in a booth at a restaurant. A young Lisa Marie is resting her head on both of her palms while staring down at the game young Riley's playing on the restaurant table.

Keough captioned the post with a simple red heart, and her followers flooded the comments section to offer their condolences.

"Your mother loved you, your brother and your sisters fiercely and devotedly... death does not rob us of that love, nor our memories. I have the best recollections of your beautiful mother from the time she was 4 1/2. She was extraordinarily special, but you already know that. I loved her then, now, and always. My thoughts & my heart are with you…💜🙏🏻," read one comment. Another comment read, "she’s looking down on you ri ❤️ sending so much love."

Elvis and Priscilla Presley's only child died on Jan. 12, 2023 after she went into cardiac arrest. She was 54.
