Kerry Washington Celebrated Emmy Nom at Airport

Scandal fans have to wait a few more months before the season three premiere after an explosive series finale, but we caught up with the show's star Kerry Washington on Thursday to get her reaction to being nominated for an Emmy Award.

Kerry -- who is nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for portraying political crisis manager Olivia Pope -- told ET she got the news from her publicist, who also happens to be a close friend. Since she was at the airport, she said her enthusiasm was understandably muted as the two celebrated on the phone. But she added: "Inside I was jumping up and down!"

"I don't think it's really sunk in yet," she revealed. "I'm so excited, but I think it will really sink in when I get to see the whole Scandal family today." Kerry explained that the cast would be uniting later at a table reading for the show. "I really feel like this belongs to all of us, this nomination. Every time that I'm on screen I'm reflecting the talent around me, so I'm thrilled that I get to see them all today," she said.

As to what fans can expect from the new season being now filming, Kerry said she is currently just as much in the dark as the fans. "You know, we have no idea. We are actually doing a table read today and we haven't seen the script, so we're all really chomping at the bit and excited to see what the season holds."
