Gayle King Jokes About the Names Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Won't Give the Royal Baby (Exclusive)

The CBS News journalist spoke with ET at the Time 100 Gala in New York on Tuesday night.

As the world's attention remains focused on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's forthcoming first child, CBS This Morning anchor Gayle King is gearing up to head across the pond for a major royal baby special.

ET's Brooke Anderson spoke with King on Tuesday, at the Time 100 Gala at Lincoln Center in New York, celebrating those named by Time magazine as the most influential public figures in America, where she jokingly speculated about possible baby names.

While King -- who appears on the cover of this year's Time 100 issue -- admitted that she didn't know for sure what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be naming their firstborn, she confidently declared, "I know they'll come up with something."

Although King added that they will probably go a more traditional route, and the name likely won't be something the rocks the Royal family's boat too strongly.

"I don't think the baby's name will be Shaniqua or Raheem," King said with a laugh. "I don't think that."

King said that she's "flying to London next week" for the CBS News special Meghan and Harry Plus One, where she will join the ranks of journalists who will be feverishly covering the long-awaited baby news.

The couple's baby will be making history for the Royals. As Markle was the first biracial American to ever marry into the Royal family, their child will also mark the first multi-racial royal baby, and one of the first royal babies to immediately qualify for U.S. citizenship upon birth.
