Gwyneth Paltrow Says She's Going to 'Dial it Back' During Wedding Planning

She spoke to ET at the 2018 Goop Health Summit on Saturday.

Gwyneth Paltrow is embracing her new life! The 45-year-old actress and Goop founder opened up to ET’s Nischelle Turner at the 2018 Goop Health Summit in New York City on Saturday about her engagement to producer, Brad Falchuk, and overcoming her fear of intimacy.

Noting that she’s “thrilled” by the news of her engagement, Paltrow did admit that it took a lot for her to get there.

“It’s a life-long project,” she told ET. “I think that there are certain people who have a really hard time with intimacy. I always say, I'm a good sister. I'm a good daughter. I'm a good girlfriend. I'm a good mother. That romantic slice of the pie chart of my life has always been where I find my deepest work... I just am trying to towards intimacy instead of being scared of it and I'm really lucky that I found a partner that's patient and loves me and is willing to help me with my process.”

And while Paltrow noted that she’s too ”busy” to have started wedding planning just yet, she did give ET a look into what the big day would be like.

“I think I'm [too] old to have a big wedding and a big ole white dress and all that,” she said. “I gotta dial it back.”

In addition to being open about her engagement and relationship, Paltrow was also willing to talk about her unique family situation with her ex-husband, Chris Martin. The pair have remained in each other’s lives since their divorce was finalized in 2016.

They co-parent their kids, Apple, 13, and Moses, 11, and Martin even posed in a recent photo with Falchuk. But Paltrow noted it wasn’t easy getting her family unit to that place of peace.

“I think that's probably a big misconception about me or my life that things come easily or are easy, and it’s just not true,” she said. “It’s been really a process to get to the point where we can all be together and luckily I have a deeply loving ex-husband, who's very open minded, and we've been able to create something. It’s for the kids. You don’t want your kids to suffer.”

She noted that her current situation isn’t necessarily the ideal one, adding, “Obviously if I could have stayed married to the father of my kids, that's kind of the dream, but it didn’t work out for me. So you have to adapt and learn, learn your lessons and move on, and that’s what we're trying to do.”
