Kim Kardashian West was as surprised as anyone to learn her husband, Kanye West, had returned to Twitter.
On Monday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 37-year-old reality star is asked about Kanye's recent rants on social media and admits that she was initially unaware that he was tweeting again.
"I didn't know he got his Twitter again until I started seeing tweets come in from other people, like, retweeting them," Kim says. "And I was like, 'Wait, is this real?' And then at night, he came in, and was like, 'Did you see my tweets?' And I was like, 'Yes, I did see your tweets.' And I followed him back."
One of the 40-year-old rapper's first tweets got the attention of Kim and her friend, Chrissy Teigen, which read: "Sometimes you have to get rid of everything."
“Wait…EVERYTHING?!?!?!” Kim tweeted back.
"I wake up and I see.. I mean, I hear him say all these things in the house... I think what he was saying about really, the 'everything,' he was talking about clarity," she says, attempting to explain her husband's message. "He always talks about how we should not have our phones first thing in the morning and in the house when we're with the kids. 'Let's not have our phones.' It's our rule that we really try to live by."
Kim adds, "So I think he was talking about cleansing."
The mother of three has been quick to defend Kanye's recent tweets, which have included messages in support of President Donald Trump.
"Now when he spoke out about Trump... Most people (including myself) have very different feelings and opinions about this," she said in a series of tweets. "But this is HIS opinion. I believe in people being able to have their own opinions, even if really different from mine. He never said he agrees with his politics."
Meanwhile, Kanye took to his Twitter account to clarify his previous comments regarding the president.
"My wife just called me and she wanted me to make this clear to everyone. I don't agree with everything Trump does. I don't agree 100% with anyone but myself," he wrote.
