After unspeakable tragedy, Kowal and his wife Mishel are trying to heal.

Marcus Kowal has welcomed a second child.

The MMA fighter and his wife, Mishel, appeared on The Doctors, where they opened up about welcoming a baby boy, 3-month-old Nico, more than a year after their 15-month old son, Liam, was tragically killed by a drunk driver.

"He’s been a blessing and he has really helped us on this healing journey," Mishel shared while holding baby Nico, whose name, the couple revealed, means, "the people's victory." The name is tied to his late older brother, whose name, Liam, means "the people's protector."

“When we named [Liam] -- and this was not the way we had hoped for him to be a protector -- but he’s already saved lives directly by donating his organs but also just from the people that reached out to us around the world pledging to never drink and drive again," Markus shared. “His 15 months here on the planet has helped saved tons of lives.”

In Liam's memory, the parents have set up Liam’s Life Foundation, which aims to save lives by raising awareness to the consequences of drunk driving.

"It’s important for [Nico] to know that he’s his own person and he never feels that he lives in the shadow of his brother, but he’s proud of his older brother and knows of his older brother," Markus said.

"It's been about four hours since I left the hospital where I said goodbye to my 15-month baby for the last time," Kowal said on Instagram in Sept. 2016, when his first son died. "Three days ago, he got hit by a drunk driver. I am not a paid actor, this is not a commercial, this is reality. All I can say is, don’t drink and drive, don’t let a friend drink and drive. Please."
