Carrie Underwood Ramps Up for Rowdy CMT Awards

The 2012 CMT Music Awards air live tonight from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT on CMT and CMT.com, hosted by Toby Keith and Kristen Bell, and nominations frontrunner Carrie Underwood says, "It's about the music and the videos and the fans."

Carrie is nominated for five awards, including Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year. Miranda Lambert has four noms -- two for her solo work and two as a member of Pistol Annies (up for Group Video and USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year awards). Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift and Thompson Square are tied for three noms apiece.

Keep an eye out also for political rivals Barack Obama and Mitt Romney to appear in a comedic opening segment during the show. And country music's first fan-voted awards show will include performances from Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Kenny Chesney, Little Big Town, Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Willie Nelson, Pistol Annies, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry and Hank Williams, Jr.
