Celine Dion is taking some much-needed time off.

Celine Dion is putting all of her show business activities on hold  -- namely, her Las Vegas residency and canceling her Asia tour -- due to her husband Rene Angelil's cancer and other health issues, the 46-year-old singer announced Tuesday.

"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support," she said in a statement to ET.

Angelil had a tumor removed from his throat last December.

In addition, Celine has been fighting an illness that has caused inflammation in her throat muscles, and has not been able to perform any of her scheduled shows in Las Vegas since her last show on July 29th.

"Since Rene's surgery last December to remove a cancerous tumor, it's been a very difficult and stressful time for the couple as they deal with the day-to-day challenges of fighting this disease while trying to juggle a very active show business schedule, and raise their three young children," a statement from her rep also reads.

Dion and Angelil -- who's 26 years her senior -- are parents to René-Charles, 13, and twins Eddy and Nelson, 3.

Angelil was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999. At the time, Dion also took a break from her career for two years. She began her highly successful first Las Vegas residency in 2003.
