Miley Cyrus was scheduled to perform in the Dominican Republic on September 13, but the commission has banned said performance on the grounds of morality.

In a statement issued on Thursday to the Associated Press, the commission said the 21-year-old often "undertakes acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law.”

Tickets for the show had been on sale since July.
