At approximately 4PM, Brand, 36, was booked by the New Orleans Police Department and subsequently released following payment of a $5000 bond.

The arrest warrant, for simple criminal damage to property, was issued earlier this week, and according to a TMZ report, Brand purportedly snatched a paparazzo's cell phone from his car when the man began to film him and threw the phone through the window of a nearby building on Monday night.

Brand has yet to make an official statement regarding the incident but made reference to it in a comedic tone on Twitter, writing, "Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory."
