Injured Stars Hobble Down Red Carpet

Proceed with caution the next time you tell an actor to "break a leg." ET's Mark Steines brings you a list of celebs who have taken the showbiz phrase too literally.

Earlier this week, Brooke Shields limped up the steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala. With the aid of a cane, the actress told Nancy O'Dell, "When I was doing Addam's Family I tore my meniscus. I just got it fixed."

At the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Brad Pitt relied on a walking stick and the most beautiful crutch of all, Angelina Jolie. The proud papa told Chris Jacobs the injury was the price he had to pay to keep his little girl unharmed. "I was carrying my daughter down a slope and I slipped. It was me or her. She's fine," he laughed.

Former Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden caused a stir in November 2011 when he tweeted a pic of George Clooney in a sling. The actors' rep was quick to suppress rumors, telling ET that Clooney had undergone elbow surgery.

Kaley Cuoco made a big bang when she fell off a horse, but downplayed her broken bone, joking with ET, "This isn't a broken leg. It's actually what the kids are doing these days; they're wearing boots on one leg… I bought it at Barney's." During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actress had her cast autographed by the talk show host.
