After a Yahoo! video of Saved By the Bell star Lark Voorhies went viral due to the now 38-year-old star's shockingly different appearance from her days playing the fashionable Lisa Turtle, some speculated that Voorhies had either had plastic surgery or was on drugs.

But though she adamantly denied it, her mother is now telling People that her daughter is struggling with an entirely different issue -- she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

"There are things that have traumatized her," says Tricia Voorhies, 64, who lives with her daughter in Pasadena, California. "I care deeply about my daughter and I want her to resume her life."

People also reports that during their interviews with Voorhies, "it was clear something wasn't right." "[She] would frequently stop mid-sentence and stare off, often mumbling to herself or to others who weren't there," the magazine reports.

Asked to explain her "vacant stares and rambling moments," Voorhies brushed it off by attributing the reportedly bizarre behavior to her "spiritual sense."

"You caught me in moments of pray," she said. ""I have a strong spiritual sense."

According to Yahoo.com, Voorhies was also defiant about getting psychiatric help for the "voices in her head."

"They can't explain it. They can't treat it. They don't know about it," she reportedly said.

According to People, Voorhies says she is not sick and keeps busy by working on low-budget indie productions, recording music and self-publishing her own books.
