Sam Smith Confirms He's Singing the James Bond 'Spectre' Theme Song!

After Sam Smith posted a cryptic Instagram on Monday that led to speculation that he'd be singing the theme song for the upcoming James Bond movie Spectre, the 23-year-old singer confirmed the news via Twitter on Tuesday morning.
"This is one of the highlights of my career," Smith wrote. "I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song."
The song is titled "Writing on the Wall" and is to be released October 26.

He later Instagrammed: "Practicing to be the best Bond girl I can be."
Sam Smith sparked speculation that he was joining the James Bond franchise when he posted a photo to Instagram on Monday, wearing a ring bearing the iconic octopus logo, that in James Bond lore identifies members of the criminal organization SPECTRE, from which the upcoming film takes its name.

The film, which is directed by Sam Mendes and hits theaters Nov. 6, certainly found a powerhouse voice to follow-up Adele's Oscar-winning theme for Skyfall.
It's a big move for a movie that already appears to be taking a back-to-basics approach for the new release.
