Morgan Freeman's Plane Skids Off Runway During Scary Emergency Landing: 'Sometimes Things Don't Go as Planned'

What the actor tells ET of his scary plane accident.

Morgan Freeman was aboard a plane that veered off the runway after an emergency landing on Saturday night.

The aircraft that the 78-year-old actor was on skidded off the runway into a field after making an emergency landing, the Tunica, Mississippi Sheriff's Department confirms to ET.

The Shawshank Redemption star and the pilot were the only two onboard the plane. No injuries were reported and no one was transported to the hospital.

Following the accident, Freeman said in a statement to ET, "I appreciate the concern and prayers for our safety."

"I was on my plane on the way to Texas to shoot a segment for The Story of God," said Freeman. "Sometimes things don't go as planned and a tire blew on take-off which caused other problems. But thanks to my excellent pilot Jimmy Hobson we landed safely without a scratch. I cannot say the same about my plane."

It's a scary situation for the actor, who has been coping with with the tragic stabbing death of his step-granddaughter in New York City this past August.
