Delaney Clements, a 13 year old who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer in 2010 and recently began hospice care, created the hashtag #DelaneyMeetTaylor to get Taylor Swift’s attention. On Saturday, the singer made a surprise visit to the Swiftie’s house and made Delaney’s wish come true.
“Literally speechless right now!!!!!” the fan captioned a selfie on Instagram. “My new best friend (as I call her now) made a special stop from going home to Tennessee and surprised me and gave me the best present/ hugg ever!!”
Delaney’s best friend, BryLeigh, posted more of their selfies with Taylor, calling the singer’s stopover “an amazing surprise." “Thank you so much Taylor! I love you bug!” BryLeigh captioned her Instagram collage, ending with purple heart and starburst emojis.
Wendy Campbell, Delaney’s mom, uploaded an album of photos to Facebook that show her daughter’s tearful reaction to seeing Taylor. “So happy for my baby girl,” Wendy wrote.
Taylor also shared a collage from her visit with Delaney, simply captioning it, “Merry Christmas Baby.”
This isn’t the first time that the 26-year-old singer has gone out of her way to make a fan battling cancer feel special this year. In March, she granted a 4-year-old fan’s final wish to dance with Taylor to “Shake It Off.” She also donated $50K to help her dancer’s 1-year-old nephew, and another $50k to an 11-year-old fan fighting leukemia.
