Britney Spears was nowhere to be found at the 2016 People's Choice Awards on Wednesday night inside the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, but it was for a good reason.

When the 34-year-old pop star won the PCA for Favorite Social Media Celebrity, many wondered why she wasn't in attendance when she didn't come on stage to accept the honor.

Following the show, Spears took to social media to explain her absence.

"I wish I could have been at the People's Choice Awards tonight but I started to feel sick," she shared in a note written on her iPhone. "Thank you so much for voting for me for Favorite Social Media Celebrity! This is dedicated to my fans, the Britney Army – without you this would not be possible."

"I love that I can share my world with you and that you are so supportive of me," the post continued. "Remember to be kind online and spread love. #ThankYou!"

If you've been keeping up with Spears' posts on Instagram, it's no surprise why the diva took the award home, as her frequent photos and videos are wonderfully bizarre.

Last month, the "Piece of Me" singer flaunted her abs and called out her haters in a selfie posted to the social media site.

"Enough said," she captioned the photo, which featured Spears in a cropped top that read "Mean People Suck."
