Kendall Jenner's New Fashion Campaign Is Getting Some Serious Backlash
A lot of people aren't happy that the 20-year-old model is the face of Mango's spring 2016 "Tribal Spirit" collection.
Kendall Jenner has scored big with her new fashion campaign -- but the price for it has been a ton of backlash.
The 20-year-old model is the face of Mango's 2016 spring collection. She shared a video from the shoot, which was photographed by David Sims in London last month, to Instagram on Wednesday.

Jenner looks adorable, so what's the problem? Many are not pleased that she's modeling an African savanna-themed collection called "Tribal Spirit."
Mango, however, did not appear to see this as a problem when they hired her.
"We thought that she was the best model to embody this trend," Mango vice president Daniel López told Women's Wear Daily of Jenner. "And obviously the upside with that is that, as a model, she's very professional. She works fantastically. As a celebrity, she has huge repercussions in the market and among her followers."
The line won't hit stores until Feb. 1, but the announcement and social media ads are already causing some of those aforementioned repercussions -- just probably not the ones Mango hoped for, as detractors on social media are loudly questioning the Spanish fashion house's casting call.
So @Mango cast kendall jenner in an African themed collection called "Tribal Spirit". Good to see fashion houses are still racist in 2016.

Few are directing their disdain at Jenner. Rather, they're considering both the hiring and the collection's name a lapse in judgment on Mango's part.
Both situations are familiar faux pas in the fashion and modeling worlds. Most recently, Valentino was chastised for putting on an African-themed spring/summer 2016 runway show that featured no models of color, and Dolce & Gabbana's spring/summer 2013 collection offended many when models walked down the runway in clothing and accessories covered in blackamoor imagery.
