Lena Dunham
is hot, and we’re not just talking about her looks. The Girls creator is facing high summer temps in New York City the only way she knows how -- by capturing her adventures on Instagram.

The struggle is all too real for Dunham, who has found some creative ways to try and beat the heat, including showing some skin and sharing head space with ice cream.

While working in the Big Apple on Tuesday, Dunham decided to take a dip -- just not in a pool. The 30-year-old writer and actress stuck her head in a convenience store freezer, full of ice cream pints and candy bars in an attempt to cool down.

"It's hot out," Dunham captioned the freezer pic.

On Wednesday, Dunham was on set in Brooklyn with her Girls co-star Andrew Rannells, who plays Elijah Krantz on the HBO series, and together they found an alternative to boiling on the streets of New York.

Rannells decided to wear a short-sleeved tee, while Dunham opted for a flower-printed, black romper with a zipper down the middle. Dunham unzipped her ensemble and let her skin get a little breeze in between takes.

"America: the lucky home of these fine young democrats," Dunham wrote alongside the photo, which also featured her rocking a cast and a sling.

Dunham is currently filming the sixth and final season of Girls, which will officially end sometime in 2017.

"I conceived Girls when I was 23 and now I’m nearly 30 -- the show has quite perfectly spanned my 20s, the period of time that it’s about -- and so it feels like the right time to wrap our story up," Dunham told ET in January when the news was first announced. "We look forward to creating a sixth season that will honor our amazing cast, crew and fans. And in the Girls universe, nothing ever ends too neatly."

Even though Dunham will be letting go of her TV baby, she has a lot to look forward to, including her future marriage to longtime boyfriend Jack Antonoff. While the actress has yet to set a date, she is very excited about tying the knot with the musician.
