Patrick Dempsey Named Sexiest Man Alive 2023
Thanks to the 2003 pilot episode of MTV's Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, we'll never forget the chicken vs. tuna debate, and Jessica Simpson won't either.
Over 13 years later, the 36-year-old actress took to Instagram on Monday to recall that infamous moment, where she says, "Is this chicken, what I have? Or is this fish?," posting a photograph of a chicken floating in the ocean with the simple hashtag, "#Chickenofthesea."
In the episode, Simpson can be seen eating a bowl of tuna alongside her then-husband, Nick Lachey. She questions the validity of the food she's eating, saying, "I know it's tuna, but it says chicken by the sea. Is that stupid?" Lachey patiently informs her that it's Chicken of the Sea, a popular brand of tuna:
Though Simpson and Lachey divorced shortly after the series ended in 2005, she does admit that she was fortunate to have had the opportunity. "I am blessed that I did have that show," she told ET correspondent Lance Bass in 2004. "It allowed people to come into my life, and to know me as a person, and I owe a lot of my support -- my fans came from that because people could relate to me."
