Noting she now has a 7-year-old son and has released several albums, she also added that she’d nabbed another GRAMMY for her role in The Color Purple on Broadway.
“I don’t have it yet,” Hudson noted of the golden statue.
“You sure do! We got it for you,” DeGeneres declared, surprising her with her trophy.
“What?! Thank you!” Hudson cried out, looking excited while holding her GRAMMY.
She added that she has a history of getting trophies from famous women.
“My first GRAMMY was given to me by Whitney Houston and now, Ellen, oh my god!” she said.
And while she was happy to finally get her award, Hudson explained why she isn’t in a rush to head down the aisle after an almost nine-year engagement.
“I’m not in a hurry. He ain’t going nowhere,” she quipped of her fiancé, David Otunga.
